“There are many Beths in the world, shy and quiet, sitting in corners till needed, and living for others so cheerfully that no one sees the sacrifices till the little cricket on the hearth stops chirping, and the sweet, sunshiny presence vanishes, leaving silence and shadow behind.”
-Louise May Alcott, Little Women
I was thinking about the book, Little Women, the other day.
Beth, the sweetheart of the family, has always felt that she wasn't going to live a long life. And she dies as a teenager. How could she be so peaceful about death? Why was she so comfortable with the idea?
I came to the conclusion that it was because she was born awesome.
